The Wales Centre for Health (WCfH) has developed an E-Directory of Training and Education Courses and Programmes in Public Health to provide an overview of courses and programmes accessible to the public health workforce. In addition to this, scoping work has been undertaken on specific areas in order to provide more detailed information and to populate the E-Directory, for example, nutrition, leadership, health improvement, health protection, health and social care quality, and, health intelligence.
The E-Directory is a searchable online database which provides a “one stop shop” for identifying training, education and professional development e.g. individuals are able to search the E-Directory by course topic (e.g. nutrition, community development etc.), location, level (e.g. Masters, Certificate, Diploma etc.) etc. Future aspirations for the E-Directory include the addition of a function which allows people to search by National Occupational Standards e.g. to fulfill a competency gap.
A study is currently underway to identify skills and competences, courses and development opportunities for mental health promotion. Information from this study will be used to populate the E-Directory. In the meantime a list a courses is being complied. Please contact Marie Griffithsfor more information or to contribute to this work.
Don’t forget, learning and development isn’t just about courses! Learning is acquired through a range of methods including conferences and seminars. If you would like to learn more about mental health promotion there are a variety of conferences and events taking place which will help to support your learning, for more information visit the Events section of the website.
Please note this area of the website is in progress. Please revisit the website regularly to check for new developments. Alternatively, become a member of the network and receive regular updates via email.
