The importance of staying healthy in the teenage years is evident as you pave the road for the future. However, teenagers are tempted by many external factors and sometimes is hard to stay focused. While every health supplements article will tell them that they must eat right and avoid alcohol, they can have hard time in following this and we are all aware of that.
Still, our job, as parents, is to advise them and suggest them to work on themselves before they get to a later age, when other things get focus. This article will help you to understand how to stay healthy even though there are a lot of things that might temp you.
Don’t start smoking
One of the biggest scams of all time is smoking. There is no study that confirmed that smoking is healthy for a man’s body as it is simply a smoke that makes the damage. If you let the smoke come into the house for a while, your walls become black and grimy.
So, imagine what smokes does to your body and lungs. Instead of smoking, find some other activity or habit that is less harmful. It can be sports activity, making a bracelet or anything else that keeps you occupied. If you didn’t know, the majority of people start smoking because of the idle time, not because they are interested in smoking.
The age of first drink has drastically drop down and now the first contact with alcohol is when kids have 13 years. This is shocking! Liquor is available everywhere so if they do not have an ID, they can send someone else to buy it for them.
Alcohol kills and there is no question about it. Therefore, stay away from alcohol as it is no good for your body at all. There might be people who say that a shot of tequila on a daily basis is good, but it is very rare that someone stays on that one shot. After some time, you develop an addiction and your body simply craves for it. Instead of alcohol, drink tea. Tea offers a lot of health benefits and develops a habit of drinking tea.
Do not fall for gambling addiction
Gambling addiction is probably worse than drug addiction as the thrill for the unpredictable outcome can beat any wish or want. A lot of youngsters start with a small-time bet, but eventually, after the first big win, they start playing more and more.
Once an addiction is developed, it is hard to treat, especially without professional help. Instead of gambling, you can go out for a pool. The pool is still a competitive game, but involves no gambling. Avoid any card games as it will drag you to start playing for real money. Once they win, it is hard to make them stop. Instead of gambling, you can compete with your pals in many ways, just use your imagination.
