I find that music is a great way of relaxing and forgetting for at least a short while any problems that I might have. Watching live music is great fun but learning to play an instrument, however badly, is a particular release as it gives you a great sense of achievement and helps you to enjoy music even more as you get a greater appreciation of accomplished musicians. I play guitar to a reasonable level but also play drums at a very basic level. Once a year I go to a drum camp and spend hours beating out rhythms in large circles with family and friends and complete strangers. There's something very comforting about working together in a large group. Getting lost in the rhythm is very hypnotic and engenders a feeling of calm which lasts a long time after the drumming has stopped.
